31 weeks!

Well, I decided to start blogging so that all of our family and friends could keep up on the details of our lives in Maryland. While I would love to call and tell each and everyone one of you about our happenings, we feel that this will be the best way to ensure that no one gets left out :)  However, this will not replace our phone calls, so feel free to call or text us anytime!   I hope you enjoy the stories, the photos and the details of our lives!  Thanks for stopping by!

Pregnancy/Baby Carter
Well as of today, we our officially 31 weeks pregnant!  Yay!!!  We saw the high risk doctors today for our "weekly" bio-physical profile.  Our little man, which was confirmed once again as he was showing off his boy parts,  passed with flying colors.  We are having to have these done every week because my amniotic fluid levels are a tad on the high side, this is called Polyhydramnios.  To much fluid has the potential of causing complications so they are keeping a watchful eye on us!  But so far, things look great!  We have another growth ultrasound in 2 weeks to see how big Carter is.  At 29 weeks he weighed approximately 3 lbs 14 oz. That is all of the baby news we have to report currently!  Stay tuned as we enter the final 9 weeks of my pregnancy!

Eric
Eric has been with ProAutomated for 1 year as of tomorrow, 9/27/2011!!  How exciting!  When Eric began this journey 1 year ago, we took a leap of faith and what a leap it was!  Eric left me behind to finish nursing school in Indiana while he relocated to Elkton, Maryland on very short notice and worked to make our lives better.  I then finished school and joined him in December of 2010 after the holidays.  ProAutomated has been more than we could have ever dreamed an employer could be.  Eric works for a Christian boss/owner and a company that is based on Christian foundations.  Even better than that, his boss is not afraid to talk about Christianity with those who he knows share his same beliefs, AWESOME!!!!  So here we are a year later and we have been totally blessed.  Eric loves his job, his coworkers and pretty much everything about his job(minus the paperwork)!!  Eric is looking forward  to moving into a "training" role.  He has already began taking new employees under his wing and showing them the ropes of the job.  As he furthers his role he will begin conducting training classes for new hires at a facility here in Elkton, MD.  This is exciting for us because this means he will be able to be home a little bit more after Carter arrives.

Casey
Well how life has changed since moving to Maryland!  When I moved out here I had just finished nursing school and left my job as a CNA for a home health care company.  My plan at that time was to take my RN boards and pass them and then secure a job as a nurse.  Sounds like a great plan right?  Well then came the wrench in my plans.  I have struggled to pass my RN boards.  I am not giving up on them, but I have yet to pass them.  So in the meantime what has been going on?  Well I was scheduled to have the first of two major ankle surgeries in March.  The date was set,I had passed all of my pre-surgery screenings, my mother in law had her plane ticket secured so that she could come and stay with me and help me for a little while, and Eric had the day off work.  Everything was on track, that is until 3 days before the surgery.  On the night of March 22, 2011 I decided that I was going to take an over the counter pregnancy test.  I didn't really have a feeling that I was pregnant, I just wanted to make sure that there was no chance I  could be since I was having surgery on Friday the 25th.  Well to your surprise and mine, the test was positive!  There were mixed emotions, a lot of shock, and the question of whether the test was right(I thought there was a chance it was wrong, even though I knew you don't get false positives!)  So then I had to tell Eric.  Easier said than done.  Eric was at a hotel in Philly that night and I had to call him and break the news over the phone, (note to self, no more taking of pregnancy tests unless Eric is there)!  Telling him over the phone was not the way I had always pictured telling him, but he took it well and was very supportive!  Well with a positive pregnancy test I had to call the doctor and confirm my pregnancy.  Thankfully I already had an appointment scheduled that morning and we confirmed it for sure!    The next step was to call my ankle surgeon and cancel my surgery for Friday.  We also had to share the news with our parents and cancel my mother in laws flight.  That was hard to do, being 600 miles away !  So with all of that behind us,we are now at 31 weeks!!

Current:
Currently we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Carter.  We have the nursery all prepared and we feel like we have everything that will be necessary to bring a newborn into our home.  The only thing missing is Carter.  We are nervous, anxious, happy, scared, worried, thrilled and a big mix of other emotions as we await his arrival!

Thanks for catching up with us.  Future posts will not be this long winded, promise!
